Mark Wayne Thomason, 68, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, was called to Heaven on June 18, 2024. Born on July 10, 1955, in Guthrie, he was a devoted husband to Connie, a loving father to Brandi and Jennifer Thomason, and stepfather to Lana Rubio (Rudy) and Leah Murray. He liked basketball, fishing, taking road trips, growing produce, especially watermelons, and he loved being with family.
Mark was a hardworking rancher, farmer, and engineer. In his early career, he worked as a driller for Harper Turner. He returned to college, received a Petroleum Engineering degree from Oklahoma State University, and began working for the Department of Environmental Quality while continuing his education to receive his Professional Engineering License. He then worked for Helmerick and Payne in OKC and, finally, the Bureau of Land Management in Buffalo, Wyoming.
Upon retiring Mark and family opened Country to Town Market in Guthrie and sold fresh, healthy fruits and veggies using old-school farming techniques.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Letha and Charley Thomason, one brother, Buddy Thomason, and a son, Freeman Thomason.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Thomason; four daughters, Jennifer Thomason, Brandi Thomason, Lana Rubio (Rudy), and Leah Murray; five granddaughters, Lauren Waters, Rose Waters, Grace Waters, Willa Rubio, and Sadie Rubio; two brothers, J.D. Thomason (Jo) and Raymond Thomason (Belinda); and two sisters, LaDonna Sweat and Lila Tillman
A memorial service will be held at Hayes Funeral Home in Guthrie on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 3:00 P.M.
