Jimmie Dale “Jim” Mills 1955-2025

Perkins resident Jimmie Dale “Jim” Mills, 89, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 26, 2025, at Strode Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Iowa Chapel Cemetery. Lunch will precede the funeral at Progress School (South Cottonwood Road, Perkins, OK) starting at 11:30. Strode Funeral Home and Cremations is in charge of the arrangements.

Jim was born on August 16th, 1936, to Gerald E. and Alma D. (Meece) Mills. Jim graduated from Hinton High School in 1954 and during his high school years he was part of the wrestling team. He married Jessie Faye Phelps of Minco, Oklahoma in 1955. He had a well-rounded career path from coal mining to retiring from Cains Coffee, running Wyatt Ranch and ending with breaking horses in his spare time and retirement years. Jim and Jessie Mills were also active members of a covered wagon train society out of Logan County. During their time in the organization, they covered many miles and slept under the open sky. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jessie Mills; daughter in law Vicky Mills; siblings Fred, Gene, C.V., Dean, Vurgal, Wanda, Dorothy, and Wilma.

Survivors include 4 children, son Joie Dale Mills and wife Vicky (deceased) and his child Chance Mills; daughter Dianna Sue (Mills) Davis and husband Jimmy and their children John Davis and Sabrina Davis-Leggett; son Larry Joe Mills and wife Jackie and children Aaron Mills, Denna, Christie, Jim, Josh, and Stoney; daughter Shelly Ann (Mills) Beene and husband Lonnie and children H.E. Sharpton III and Jessica Beene; 21 great grandchildren, 7 great, great grandchildren; brother Bob Mills; sisters Connie Mills and Kathy Stuart; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
