All-District football awards and teams are starting to roll in and Guthrie football caps off its state runner-up 2024 season with a plethora of 5A-2 honors.
In what was the program’s best season in over a decade, coach Kelly Beebe’s Bluejays had 14 players earn a 5A-2 district award or make the All-District first or second team. That number is the second-most in the district behind 5A state champions Carl Albert (15).
Senior do-it-all athlete Kolten Carlock was named the district Co-Offensive Player of the Year alongside Carl Albert’s Trynae Washington. Carlock played everywhere on the offensive side of the ball and was a game changer wherever he went, spending time at quarterback, running back, wide receiver and even punter. He was also the Bluejays’ starting cornerback on defense.
Alfred Officer won Defensive Lineman of the Year after a big senior year in the trenches for Guthrie. He finished the season with a team-high 17 tackles for loss and 10 sacks, along with 66 tackles, five pass break ups and a fumble recovery.
Defensive end Eli Plagg was one of three players to earn the Ironman Player of the Year award, including Carl Albert’s Marcus James and Lawton’s Seth Pewewardy.
Offensive lineman Dylan Cherryington and defensive lineman John Junkersfeld received honorable mentions.
Six Bluejays made their way onto the All-District first team. Starting with senior Blake Doles, who earned a spot on the team at the ‘H’ position thanks to his productive role as a fullback-slash-tight end this season. Jacob Owens and Semaja Morgan were one of five players selected to the first-team offensive line, and Malek Meyers made first-team defensive line.
Kaden White was one of two players selected for first-team linebacker after his 149-tackle senior campaign, and senior kicker Carl Miller rounds out the Jays’ first-team honorees as one of three first-team specialists.
Three more Guthrie players made the All-District second team, that being offensive lineman Landon Gilbert, linebacker Justin Harper and specialist Greg Stevenson.
