Logan County charities need holiday donations

Several local family service organizations are in need of gifts, such as toys, supplies and personal care items for the upcoming holidays.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is looking for angel tree donors for more than 40 abused or neglected children.

An angel tree, or giving tree, connects donors with children in need by providing clothing, shoes, toys or gift cards, for example.

Donors can simply scan the QR code next to this story or donate by contacting CASA in Guthrie at 405293-6200. CASA for Kids is also located on 208 East Oklahoma Avenue. Throughout all of 2023, CASA for Kids had 51 volunteers. For those wanting to volunteer and support children who need help, visit casaforkids. com or call 405-624-2250.

Wings of Hope family crisis services also is in need of assistance for the holidays. The organization is requesting donations for a variety of new household goods to be dropped off at their Stillwater location at 3800 North Washington Street.

Donation requests include: wrapping supplies, such as scissors, wrapping paper and tissue paper, ribbons and gift bags; self care items, such as fuzzy socks, face masks, shampoos, conditioners and other hygiene products; winter coats, jackets and warm hats; and toys for all age groups.

There are many other ways to give this Christmas: Pepper’s Ranch Foster Community in Guthrie is hosting a toy drive and an angel tree of its own. For more information on the toy drive or angel tree donations, call Pepper’s Ranch at 405-260-1870, or email melissacloud@peppersranch.com.

On December 14, Guthrie VFW Sooner Post 4578 at 5223 South Division Street is hosting a meet- and- greet with Santa from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Each child will receive a present from him and refreshments will be provided.

North Church in Guthrie also is hosting a wishlist initiative. More than 500 wish lists have been sponsored this year and less than 25 remain. Call 405-341-1200 or visit north.church/wishlist to request one or to make a financial donation.

The winter holiday season has been a time for the community to support those in need for decades. Now, organizations such as CASA, Wings of Hope, the Sheriff ’s Office and more are offering an opportunity for those in Logan County to continue making a difference.
