A new art exhibit is premiering at the Owens Art Place Museum this Sunday, with an opening reception featuring food, dance, door prizes, music, and an open mic for poetry, prose and singing August 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
‘A Quilter’s 54-Year Saga: Inspired By The Artistry of African Fabrics’, art by Langston University’s retired Dr. Jo Ann Richardson Clark, will open free to the public Sunday at the first and only fine arts museum in Logan County.
Dr. Clark has been making quilts with African fabrics for decades since she was first taught by her mother-in-law Florence Galbreath Clark, who made over 200 quilts throughout her life.
Located at 1202 E. Harrison Avenue, the exhibit owned by 91 year-old Wallace Owens, will be open Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 22, 29, September 5, 12, 19, 26, October 3, 10, 17.
And on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 25, September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, October 6, 13 and 20.
