For Immediate Release:
On November 13, 2023, the Chief Financial Officer for Guthrie Public Schools, Dr.
Michelle Chapple, discovered what appeared to be irregularities while conducting a
routine audit of the district payroll. She reported her findings to GPS Superintendent,
Dr. Mike Simpson. Further investigation ensued the following day including a meeting
with the employee who processed payroll for the district, Linda Campbell. Following
that meeting, the Guthrie Police Department was notified and a police report was taken.
Dr. Simpson accepted the resignation of Ms. Campbell on November 15, 2023.
