Guthrie Public Schools will once again help keep children fed during the summer months through its Summer Feed Program, offering free breakfasts and lunches to all children ages 18 and younger beginning June 1.
The program will run Monday through Thursday through June 25 at multiple locations across Guthrie, including dine-in meal sites and mobile “grab-and-go” locations.
Free breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at Guthrie Upper Elementary School, while lunch will be available there from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meals at the upper elementary site are dine-in only.
Lunch will also be served from 11:30 to 11:50 a.m. at Guthrie Junior High School as a dine-in option.
In addition to school locations, mobile meal sites will provide grab- and- go lunches throughout the community. Stops include Building for Champions at 1615 N. Walnut Ave. from 9:30 to 9:50 a.m.; Mineral Wells Park, 819 S. Division St., from 11 to 11:20 a.m.; Banner Park, near 11th Street and Warner Avenue, from 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.; and Harvest Road and Winter Wheat Drive in the new housing addition by Silver Valley from noon to 12:20 p.m.
Program organizers remind families that children must be present at all meal sites to receive a meal.
The annual program helps ensure local children continue to have access to nutritious meals while school is out for summer break, easing the burden on families and providing support throughout the community.
