Election Day Reminders and Tips

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, for the Deer Creek SD I-6, Eastern Oklahoma TC-23, and Edmond SD I-12 special school elections.

Logan County Election Board Secretary Sheleen Winscott reminds voters—especially first-time voters—to review these important tips before heading to the polls.

Voters should follow the sample ballot posted at their polling place when marking their ballot. If a mistake is made, voters should return the ballot to a precinct official, who will issue a new one. Voters are not required to vote on every race or issue for their ballot to be counted.

Ballots may be inserted into the voting device in any direction. If too many choices are marked for a single race or question, the device will return the ballot and issue an error report so a new ballot can be provided.

Voters needing assistance, including use of the audio-assisted voting system, may request help from a precinct official. No proof of disability is required.

An approved form of voter identification is required. Accepted IDs include photo IDs issued by the federal government, the State of Oklahoma, or a federally recognized tribe, as well as the free voter ID card issued by the County Election Board. IDs with expiration dates must be valid after Election Day.

Voters who forget their ID or whose name is not found in the precinct registry may cast a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are counted after Election Day once voter eligibility is verified.

Voting is typically slowest mid-morning and mid-afternoon, though wait times vary. All voters in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Polling locations and sample ballots are available through the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma. gov/elections/ovp.

The Logan County Election Board is located at 224 E. Vilas Ave., Guthrie, and is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, call (405) 282-1900 or visit facebook.com/ LCEB42.
