I’ve had a great time over the past few weeks meeting with constituents across Senate District 20 and visiting local communities. It was also a pleasure to welcome Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell and Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Dustin Rowe to Perry for various events.

A spaghetti fundraiser and community brunch will highlight this weekend’s Brunch on Noble Nonprofit Fair, bringing residents together to support local causes.The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 102 E. Noble Ave.

Rotary Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Cora Leach. She is the daughter of Joyce and Cody Leach. Cora is active in volleyball and track. She was on the State Champion 4x4 relay team, placed 4th in the State for the 4x2 and 5th for the 300 hurdles.

Honor Park Getting Ready for Veterans Day

Recently, a group of Junior ROTC students from Guthrie High School and volunteers from the LeBron American Legion Post 58 combined to do some fall planting, weeding, mulching and painting at the Veterans Memorial at Honor Park in Guthrie.

SNAP recipients get advice on ways to save, get help

Nearly 687,000 Oklahomans — about 17% of the state’s population — receive monthly benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. Recipients average about $187 per person or $385 per household each month, with a maximum of $973 for a family of four.
