Murder-Suicide in Logan County

Logan County deputies responded to a call received at 8:42am yesterday morning, June 10, and discovered two dead bodies in an apparent murdersuicide.The call originated from a neighbor reporting shots fired in the 3300 block of Wildwood Road in southern Logan County.

Primary elections for federal, state, and county candidates are scheduled for June 18 across the state. On Election Day, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting will be held Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 15 from 8:00 a.m.

It was May 12, 2021, when Richard Wayne Nyte Jr., 43, was driving home from the golf course after playing a round of golf and drinking multiple beers, according to police reports, when he tried to pass a truck, crossing the center line and hitting Michael McFarland, head-on.

School board hires new GUES principal, head softball coach

The Guthrie Board of Education Monday night approved the hiring of Michelle Wilson-Adams to be the next principal at Guthrie Upper Elementary School.She replaces Jeff Ball who served the district for 29 years, most recently as the GUES Principal for the 2023-24 school year.

City Council hears sales tax collection update

The Guthrie City Council Tuesday was updated by City Manager Eddie Faulkner about the City’s sales tax revenue, and budget planning for the next fiscal year.“We’re working actively on the budget at this time and we have begun the first round of negotiations with the FOP,” Faulkner said.

Logan County 4-H hosted a Fishing Derby on April 6th at Highland Hall Park, partnering with the Oklahoma Wildlife Department and Logan County Conservation District. Guthrie 4-H member Bobby Ferguson organized this event which was open to all kids in Logan County.
