Vaccine Events for Third Doses and Boosters

The FDA authorized and the CDC approved an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the administration of a single booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for certain eligible individuals Thursday afternoon. Eligible Oklahomans can begin receiving their booster dose as early as Friday, Sept. 24.

COVID-19 vaccines are readily available at a variety of providers in all of our counties.  Eligible Oklahomans can find vaccine appointments in their community by visiting the vaccine portal at vaccinate.oklahoma.gov,  calling their local pharmacy or personal provider, visiting vaccines.gov or by calling 211.

Our District 2 County Health Departments are ready to serve our communities with the COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments will be available at vaccinate.oklahoma.gov or calling 211. 

Garfield County Health Department will be hosting a vaccination event at the Oakwood Mall in Enid (Southside of the mall) on Monday Sept. 27th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  

Logan County Health Department will be hosting a vaccination event at the Logan County Health Department  on Tuesday Sept. 28th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 

Canadian County Health Department will be hosting a vaccination event at the El Reno Fairgrounds Wednesday Sept. 29th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 

Other Appointments will be available through the portal or 211 at   Major County Health Department, Blaine County Health Department, 

Kingfisher County Health Department and the Grant County Health Department.

All three vaccines will be available for first and second doses. Pfizer will be available for third doses for immunocompromised and boosters for high risk and people over 65. If you received 2 doses of Moderna vaccine, it will be available for third doses for immunocompromised but not yet for boosters for high risk and over 65.

The CDC recommends in the following should receive a booster shot:

 - Individuals 65 years of age and older and residents of long-term care facilities; 

-Individuals 50 to 64 years of age with underlying medical conditions; 

Additionally, the CDC recommends the following may receive a booster shot: 

- Individuals 18 to 49 years of age with underlying medical conditions and upon consideration of individual benefits and risk. 

- Individuals 18 to 64 years of age who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting 

• At this time, Moderna and J&J are not eligible for booster administration.
