New lifestyle show brings ‘a pocket of sunshine’ to Oklahoma, and Guthrie

A new Oklahoma lifestyle show focused on celebrating communities and everyday stories will debut later this month.

“The Spotlight” premieres on KFOR on March 30 at 11:30 a.m. The half hour program will air weekdays and focus on positive, community driven storytelling from across the state.

The trio brings a mix of perspectives, from lifelong Oklahoma roots to a newcomer’s fresh view, with a shared goal of connecting with people and highlighting what makes the state unique.

From the outset, the hosts say their mission is simple: celebrate Oklahoma and its people.

“It’s a great opportunity for our station to get into the community and to meet the people of Oklahoma, their stories, their businesses, and the things that make our state great,” Pickard said.

The show’s tone is intentionally upbeat, offering a break from the traditional news cycle. Rayne described it as a “pocket of sunshine,” focused on positive moments and shared experiences.

“In a world today where there’s so much trauma on every end of any conversation, we get to say, ‘Hey, can we pause just for thirty minutes and have a good time together?’” Rayne said. “Let’s celebrate each other, even if we’re different, and let’s do this here in Oklahoma.” Rather than focusing solely on breaking news, the show will spotlight what the hosts call “lifestyle worthy” stories, meaningful moments that may not make headlines but still resonate with viewers.

“There can be something that may not be newsworthy, but it’s absolutely lifestyle worthy,” Britt said.

The hosts also plan to take an active role in the stories they tell, building personal connections with both viewers and the communities they visit.

“We’re not just going to hide behind a story of someone else or a business,” Rayne said. “We’re going to share how we integrate with the people in our community or the businesses that are featured.”

Each host brings a distinct perspective to the program. Pickard, a lifelong Oklahoman, is eager to uncover hidden gems across the state.

“As the lifelong Oklahoman, I’m excited to share something that might surprise me or surprise others watching,” he said.

Britt, new to Oklahoma, said viewers will be part of the show’s journey as it grows.

“They get to go on this journey with us,” Britt said. “We are babies in this, and they’ll be along for that ride.”

He added that he’s especially drawn to deeper, inspirational storytelling.

“I really enjoy the inspirational side of storytelling because I love diving deep into someone’s life, learning what they’ve experienced, how they’ve grown from it and how they’re using those lessons to teach others,” Britt said.

Rayne said she hopes to highlight everyday people who may not expect to see themselves on television.

“What I’m excited about is really finding the people who think, ‘I wouldn’t be on TV.’ No, we want to put you on TV,” she said. “You matter.”

The show will also incorporate social media interaction through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, encouraging audience participation through polls, contests and giveaways.

In addition to in studio segments, the hosts plan to travel throughout the state, including appearances at community events such as the 89er Days Parade in Guthrie. While the show will feature occasional high profile guests, including former University of Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer, the focus will remain on everyday Oklahomans.

“We want people to come here and see how great Oklahoma is and want to stay,” Pickard said. “Not politics, not religion, but how good the people are.”

With its community centered approach and emphasis on positivity, “The Spotlight” aims to offer viewers a fresh perspective on life across Oklahoma.
