This year’s Kiwanis Christmas Live Auction on Saturday, December 3rd, was possibly the most successful in the history of the organization’s Guthrie holiday tradition. Starting at 10:00 a.m., the bidding began on more than 300 donated items in Guthrie’s City Hall in the City Council Chambers. Viewers were able to watch the excitement live on Cox Channel 20; or live streaming Guthrie News Page, YouTube, or Facebook until 7:00 p.m. when bidding ended.
All of the items were sold, including the two big ticket items: a refrigerator/freezer and a 1982 El Camino both valued in the thousands of dollars.
Preliminary reports indicate that the auction raised enough money to go over their annual budget, so Kiwanis will be able to add an extra event, scholarship, or activity for Logan County children in the coming year. Proceeds will be split with Logan County Community Children’s Services.
Guthrie Kiwanis credits all of the organizations and individuals that donated with this year’s success, as well as the leadership of President, Kelly Hoyt.
“We want to try to thank as many people as possible,” said Jerry Gamill, spokesman for Guthrie Kiwanis. “There was no one that I asked that didn’t say ‘yes.’” Kiwanis is an international service club founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan.
