The Logan County Board of Commissioners Friday accepted the resignation of Wayne Murphey as Logan County Assessor effective Dec. 31.
“I think he was a great asset to the county, and I appreciate his service,” said District 3 Commissioner Monty Piercey. “His wife (Mary, who serves as a Deputy Assessor) is going to take over Jan. 1, and I think she will be just as efficient as Wayne. We certainly appreciate your service.”
The Commissioners appointed Phil Nichols to the Guthrie I-1 EMS District to fill the vacant seat of Rodney Stewart; and appointed Chris Evans to serve on the Logan County Excise Board representing District 3; and accepted an in-kind donation valued at $842,433.78, from Van Eaton Ready Mix to
District 1 for labor and materials on Santa Fe between State Highway 33 and College.
The meeting was the final one for District 1 Commissioner Marven Goodman who didn’t win re-election. He will be replaced by former Commissioner Mark Sharpton.
Goodman was praised by his fellow Commissioners, and other county officers for his eight years serving as District 1 Commissioner.
“We appreciate what you brought to the board,” Piercy said.
District 2 Commissioner Kody Ellis concurred.
“I want to say thank you,” Ellis said. “You kind of pushed me to do this, and helped me through it, and here I am. I appreciate everything you have done.”
