2025 '89ers Day Queen and Princess Crowned

Caitlyn Cramer, from Edmond, has been crowned the 2025 Guthrie 89ers Day Queen, and Kimber Faith Powers, from Coyle, was crowned the 2025 Guthrie 89ers Day Princess.

The title of Guthrie 89er Queen and Princess is a year-long commitment to representing the proud heritage and traditions of the Guthrie 89ers Day Celebration. While their roles are most visible during the grand week of festivities in April, their impact and duties extend far beyond the celebratory events.

Cramer, 15, is an accomplished equestrian who competes in barrel racing and rodeo events with her chestnut mare, Betty. She is a freshman at Edmond Memorial High School, where she excels as a varsity swimmer and an active member of the Edmond FFA.

Her ties to Guthrie run deep, from competing at the Guthrie Fairgrounds and Lazy E Arena to enjoying local traditions like Red Brick Nights and the annual 89ers Day Parade. She is also dedicated to giving back, volunteering at Take A Chance Ranch in Guthrie, where she helps care for horses and assists with lessons and events.

“I tried out for the 89er Queen because I thought it would be a fun opportunity, and something new to try,” she said. “To be the 89er Queen means that I am a role model for others, younger girls and older girls, and I represent our community, and the celebration of the 89ers.”

As the 2025 Guthrie 89ers Day Queen, Cramer will serve as an ambassador for the celebration, promoting its history, values, and traditions year-round. She looks forward to meeting new people, sharing her love of horsemanship, and ensuring the legacy of Guthrie’s 89ers Day Celebration continues for generations to come.

Powers has a deeprooted passion for rodeo, community, and the historical significance of the 89ers Day Celebration.

Kimber, the daughter of Greg and Tosha Powers of Coyle, is an 8th grader at Coyle Public School, where she is actively involved in FFA, softball, basketball, and track. When she’s not competing in school sports, she can be found riding her horses and attending rodeos, a passion that has been a part of her life since childhood.

Her love for rodeo began at a young age, inspired by her Uncle Scott and Aunt Linda, who introduced her to bull riding series and rodeos when she was just a toddler. Today, she continues that legacy by competing in barrel racing and small-town rodeos, as well as participating in playdays in Perkins.

Kimber’s connection to Guthrie runs deep—her cousin, Jesse Henderson, was the 2015 89ers Day Queen, and her family has historical ties to the town. She is honored to represent Guthrie, embracing its history while continuing its traditions. “I tried out because I love the experience, and I love making little girls’ faces light up,” she said. “I’m excited and nervous, but I feel like it’s going to be a great experience.”

As the 2025 Guthrie 89ers Day Princess, Kimber will serve as an ambassador, promoting the values of the 89ers Celebration and sharing her love for rodeo and horsemanship. Just as the settlers of 1889 had to stake their claim on land, she approaches each competition with determination, trust in her horse, and the spirit of a true competitor. As the official faces and representatives of the celebration, the Queen and Princess serve as spokespersons for the rich history of Guthrie and the legacy of the Land Run of 1889. Their presence is essential not only for promoting and preserving the spirit of 89ers Week but also for fostering a sense of community pride and engagement throughout the entire year.

The 89er Queen and Princess play an active role in community events, parades, and public appearances, where they share the story of Guthrie’s historical significance and the importance of the 89ers Day Celebration. Whether they are attending school visits, civic meetings, or media engagements, they ensure that the tradition remains alive and well beyond the April festivities.

Additionally, they assist in promoting upcoming events related to the 89ers Celebration, encouraging participation and enthusiasm among residents and visitors alike.
