Guthrie, Oklahoma – Beginning October 13, the City of Guthrie will continue its downtown improvements as part of the CIP #2 Initiative: Growing Guthrie, approved by voters in 2024.
The next phase of work focuses on upgrading sidewalks, crosswalks, and intersection features to improve accessibility and safety, ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The intersection identified for upgrades includes:
- Harrison Avenue and 1st Street
Motorists, pedestrians, and business owners are encouraged to plan accordingly for temporary changes in traffic patterns and to exercise caution in the area during construction.
The expected timeline for completion is 60–75 days, weather permitting.
In addition, the Oklahoma Avenue and Wentz Street intersection is expected to be open to traffic by October 13th.
“We are excited to continue investing in Guthrie’s infrastructure thanks to CIP #2 funding sources,” said City Manager Eddie Faulkner. “These intersection improvements are a meaningful step toward ensuring our downtown is safe and accessible for everyone.”
Project updates, including progress reports and traffic notifications, will be posted on the City of Guthrie’s social media channels throughout construction.
