The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Hank Hinkle. He is the son of Terry and Kim Hinkle. Hank has been active in football, baseball and golf. Hank is a member of National Honor Society, the UCO Leadership Academy, he received the Hoby Leadership Award and attended Boys State. After graduation, Hank plans to attend UCO for the PGA Golf Management Program major. Mercy Hospital Logan County Lauded Again for Quality Care

Three Mercy hospitals from Oklahoma were recognized as top 20 critical access hospitals in the U.S. for the highquality care provided to patients. Mercy Hospital Kingfisher, Mercy Hospital Logan County and Mercy Hospital Tishomingo received a Best Practice in Quality award from The Chartis Center for Rural Health, a national health care advisory and analytics firm that conducts the annual study on behalf of the National Rural Health Association.

April 29, 10:30 AM - LARCENY: A white male in a hoodie and ripped faded jeans going towards a vehicle, getting into a red 4-door Honda hatchback, cutting through back end of the parking lot, turned to go out the went northbound on Division. Vehicle is occupied, caller advised they stole some drinks. April 29, 13:40 PM - VANDALISM: Occurred at 404 Johnson Dr., vandalism to vehicle, brother showed up demanding keys and then beat on her Jeep.

Weathers retires from Coyle

Coyle High School Principal/ Athletic Director Shane Weathers is retiring on June 30 after 32 years in the school district. Weathers has served in multiple capacities over the years and restarted the football program in 2004. He has coached football, basketball, and track over the years. He has been the athletic director for the last four years in addition to running the high school. Weathers made the announcement at the graduation ceremonies on May 10 to the crowd and was surrounded by well-wishers after the ceremony.

Guthrie carriers collect for Regional Food Bank

Council seeks $8mil for capital projects

The Guthrie City Council Tuesday approved a resolution authorizing the Guthrie Public Works Authority to issue its Utility System and Sales Tax Revenue Note, not to exceed $8 million for the construction of a new fire station, ADA projects, and water tower projects.

Coyle High School’s Class of 2024 became the first Logan County school to hold graduation ceremonies as 24 seniors earned their diplomas Friday night, May 10. This class will be forever connected to COVID-19 as they were freshmen when the pandemic hit and had to navigate through two years of rules and safety guidelines not normally attributed to everyday school life.
