Oklahoma high school sports could soon be returning.
The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association executive director David Jackson said the association will be holding a special board meeting on Friday to discuss restarting prep sports across the state. The special board meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m.
The OSSAA originally planned to send out its phased plan to member schools Tuesday but decided to wait until Friday after the meeting with the board of directors to discuss the plan. If the plan is approved on Friday, it will be sent out to administrators immediately following the meeting.
The plan will be to open back up in some capacity starting on June 1, allowing coaches and players to have limited contact. On June 15, weight lifting could open with strict social distancing guidelines in place. A third phase would come later in the summer.
