Oklahoma City – Leading women’s organization joins the national battle to amend the Constitution to enshrine equal rights regardless of sex. Oklahoma Women’s Coalition will host a rally and fundraiser for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to be held February 27, 2020 at Verbode.

“Women should not be held back or provided less opportunity, respect or protections under the law because of their gender,” said Liz Charles, Executive Director of Oklahoma Women’s Coalition.

The ERA Rally and Fundraiser will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Verbode in Oklahoma City, OK. The event will convene passionate locals, advocates, legislators and community leaders from the Tulsa area for an empowering evening to build support.

“As a state that consistently ranks at the bottom for quality of life for women, Oklahoma has the opportunity to make a demonstrative and intentional move toward progress,” said Charles. “Let’s make sure Oklahoma is on the right side of history by becoming the 39th state to ratify the ERA.”

Oklahoma is one of 13 states involved in the widespread push to ratify the ERA this year. The Oklahoma state legislature hasn’t attempted a vote on ERA legislation since 1982.

The Oklahoma Women’s Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, envisions a socially just and equitable world where everyone has equal opportunity to flourish and to achieve the full potential for individuals and community. For more information, please visit http://www.okwc.org/
