James Henry “Jim” Jenkins, age 86 of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on February 20, 2020 in Edmond. He was born in Chester, Oklahoma on January 11, 1934 to Charlie and Jessie (Newland) Jenkins.

Jim attended Guthrie High School until his junior year and his senior year he moved to Alaska and completed his G.E.D while he was a member of the United States Air Force.

On January 26, 1962 he married Virginia Riley in Gainesville, Texas. Of this union four sons were born, James Jr., Jeff, Gerald, and Denny.

Jim was an electronic engineer and retired from Western Union/AT&T in 1989.

Jim was a member of the the Frank H. Collings' American Legion Post 111. James enjoyed working on electronics, hunting when he could, working around his property, and working with a number of animals including horses, cows and chickens.

Jim is survived by his wife Virginia of the home, son James Jenkins Jr. of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, son Jeff Jenkins and wife Rebecca of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, son Gerald Jenkins of Midwest City, son Denny Jenkins and wife Betty Jo of Elkhart, Kansas, brother Billy Jenkins and wife Ellen of Edmond, six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Jessie Jenkins, brothers Herman and Floyd Jenkins, sister Florence Kilbourn, sister Mary Margaret Nelson, and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Troutman officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and Monday, February 24, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.
