Tuesday night Guthrie Public Schools announced the elementary and secondary teachers of the year while honoring all site teachers of the year.

Coyle FFA /4H serves over 400 people at Annual Pork Chop Feed

The Coyle FFA and 4H group hosted their annual pork chop feed on Feb.4 the Coyle Fieldhouse. The dinner served around 400 people, pork chops, baked potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls and cake. There was a silent auction as well as a live auction that goes towards funding future FFA projects for the students. Next up is the Coyle local show this Saturday at the Coyle FFA barns. The Logan County Spring Livestock Show runs Feb.17-Feb.20 with the premium auction on Feb.23. Photos by Mike Monahan

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Allyn Orndorff. He is the son of Brian and Arceda Orndorff. Allyn is active in wrestling, Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society for 3 years. He has participated in band for 7 years. Allyn has had 6 Superior ratings in solos or ensembles. After graduation, Allyn plans to attend OSU for Zoology and then to the veterinarian program. Preparing for the Legislative Session

The First Session of the 59th Legislature begins at noon Feb. 6 with the governor delivering his annual State of the State Address. The governor will outline his hopes for the Fiscal Year 2024 budget. It’s up to the Legislature, however, to determine appropriations for state agencies to fund programs and services for Oklahomans.

The official beginning of the 2023 legislative session is literally just days away – we’ll convene the session at noon on February 6. But the preparation for this session has been ongoing for the past several months, and those efforts only intensify the closer we get to the start of session.

Mulhall-Orlando BB teams head to Dover for district play

The Mulhall-Orlando basketball teams head to Dover this weekend for the start of the state Class B play-offs. The Lady Panthers (9-13) will play Medford (5-15) on Thursday night. The Panthers (7-14) will play Medford (7-13) on Friday night in Dover. Both games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
