Story and photos by Mike Monahan Coyle High’s basketball teams swept district championships, but not before a slew of technical fouls and personal fouls were whistled in the two finals last weekend. In the boys final, the Bluejackets stormed back from a 21-11 halftime deficit, taking advantage of five pivotal technical fouls in the final 11 minutes to produce a 52-36 win against the Wellston Tigers.

Logan County CASA For Kids is putting out the alarm regarding an urgent need for volunteers for their organization. “In 2022, DHS removed 35 children from their homes in Logan county in total.

Channel Submits Resignation

City of Guthrie Ward 3 Councilman Don Channel has submitted his resignation for both the balance of his current term and his next fouryear term that would have started on Monday, May 1, 2023. (see attachment) Council Member Channel should be held in high regard and fully recognized for his love of the Guthrie Community and his genuine care for the dedicated members of city staff that is the heart of Team Guthrie. Councilman Channel was always thoroughly prepared for every city council meeting and was not afraid to challenge the status quo when he felt other options should be considered. Over the last four years Don was a key player in many community improvements that will serve Guthrie for many years to come. We wish Don nothing but the best in the future.

Tuesday night Guthrie Public Schools announced the elementary and secondary teachers of the year while honoring all site teachers of the year.

Coyle FFA /4H serves over 400 people at Annual Pork Chop Feed

The Coyle FFA and 4H group hosted their annual pork chop feed on Feb.4 the Coyle Fieldhouse. The dinner served around 400 people, pork chops, baked potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls and cake. There was a silent auction as well as a live auction that goes towards funding future FFA projects for the students. Next up is the Coyle local show this Saturday at the Coyle FFA barns. The Logan County Spring Livestock Show runs Feb.17-Feb.20 with the premium auction on Feb.23. Photos by Mike Monahan

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Allyn Orndorff. He is the son of Brian and Arceda Orndorff. Allyn is active in wrestling, Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society for 3 years. He has participated in band for 7 years. Allyn has had 6 Superior ratings in solos or ensembles. After graduation, Allyn plans to attend OSU for Zoology and then to the veterinarian program.
