The Guthrie Noon Lions Club recently celebrated its 100th year celebration with a wonderful banquet at the Dominion House.
Lion President Jerry Ball presided during opening ceremonies with emcee Lion Robert Davis introducing special guests and dignitaries and providing a humorous “trip down memory lane” of past meetings and programs. Guthrie Mayor Steve Gentling, also a member of Lions Club, presented President Ball with a proclamation of Guthrie Noon Lions 100th Year Celebration. Lion Kenneth Mitchell was recognized for his 63 years of service and Garry Weeks and Larry Brooks were given their 50 and 40 years of service pins respectively.
A video sponsored by Bancfirst was shown to attendees, with recollections of current members and pictures of past Guthrie Lions presidents. Former Guthrie Lions president, Jay Hannah, was the guest speaker for the evening, providing humor in memories from years past and giving words of encouragement and inspiration as Guthrie Lions move forward in fulfilling the Lions motto, “We Serve.” Special thanks to Guthrie Noon Lions 100th Celebration Chair, Gary Weeks and committee members, Kenneth Mitchell and Sylvia Ochs.
