The Crescent FFA Chapter held its 77th Annual Banquet on May 10, 2022 in the Crescent Public School cafeteria. There numerous guests, staff, members and parents present at the time the banquet was held.

The 2021-2022 Crescent FFA President, Kinzie Bell, got the night kicked off starting with all the proficiency award recipients. Proficiency awards are based on a members (SAE) Supervised Agriculture Experience. They recognize individual skills and career- based competencies developed through numerus years of participation in immersion type SAE projects. Here are this year’s proficiency recipients: Kinzie Bell- Poultry Production and Sheep Production, Calen Cox- Small Animal Production- Entrepreneurship, Addison Bailey- Dairy Cattle Production, Mikenna Morris- Diversified Livestock Production and Goat Production, Ronni Adams- Beef Cattle Production, Savanna Semrad- Dairy Cattle Entrepreneurship Development, Ridge Garrett- Swine Production, Madeline Dimmitt- Agriculture Sales and Forage Production, and Cheyenne Burton- Veterinary Placement.

Crescent FFA Chapter awarded four different types of FFA Degrees at the banquet. They include the Discovery Degree, the Greenhand Degree, the Chapter Degree, and the Honorary Degree. The Discovery Degree is awarded to a member that has completed their first year of FFA. This year’s Discovery Degree recipients are: Kennedy Alexander, Paige Bailey, Kylee Bell, Krew Bowers, Avaleigh Brown, Miranda Dimmitt, Ridge Garrett, Kade Finley, Zoey Hilburn, Kashlyn Mitchell, Elizabeth Polhemus, Tyler Reupert, Kamryn Taylor, and Kami Weber. The Greenhand Degree is awarded to all ninth grade or older members who learn about the FFA History, Mission, Creed, Emblem, and make plans for an SAE. This year’s Greenhand Degree recipients are: Ronni Adams, Addison Bailey, Kyler Biggs, Zadyn Cutter, Parker Harris, Drew Howell, Katelyn McHargue, Dale Hixon-Peters, Jayden Metheny, Sadie Payne, Hudson Replogle, Kynlee Ross, Savanna Semrad, and Matthew Tice. The Chapter Degree is awarded to the chapter’s top members who must have received the Greenhand Degree in years prior and have a record of satisfactory participation in the activities of the chapter. This year’s Chapter Degree recipients are: Kinzie Bell, Cheyenne Burton, Calen Cox, Madeline Dimmitt, Tyler Gibson, Brooke Henderson, Hunter McPhail, Dalton Peters, Ryan Roden, and Gabe South. The Honorary Degree is decided on who helps the most and goes out of their way at all times to make sure that every FFA member has a chance to succeed, this year’s recipient is Mrs. Amanda Bell.

Four different types of Star Awards were awarded at this year’s banquet, they include: the Outstanding 7th Grader, the Star Discovery Degree, the Star Greenhand Degree, and the Star Farmer Degree. The Outstanding 7th Grader Award is given to the most active 7th grader that takes an Agriculture class gets awarded this title. This year’s Outstanding 7th Graders were Leighton McNair and Reid Prosser. The Star Discovery Degree is awarded to an 8th grader who has received their Discovery Degree award and who also is the most active of their 8th grade class. This year’s Star Discovery Degree recipients are Kylee Bell and Ridge Garrett. The Star Greenhand Degree is awarded to a freshman in high school who has received their Greenhand Degree and is also the most active in their grade. This year’s Star Greenhand recipient is Ronni Adams. The Star Farmer is awarded to someone who has an outstanding SAE in production agriculture and demonstrates the most involvement in all phases of the chapter’s activities. This year’s Star Farmer recipient is Calen Cox.

This year the Crescent FFA Chapter had the honor of giving two scholarships: The Mac McClure Family Memorial Scholarship and The Leo and Betty Mize Legacy Award. Both of these scholarships were awarded to Courtney Prosser.

The banquet ended with the announcement of the 2022-2023 Crescent FFA Officer Team. This year’s new Officer Team consists of: Kinzie Bell- President, Calen Cox- Vice President, Addison Bailey- Reporter, Mikenna Morris- Treasurer, Cheyenne Burton- Secretary, and Madeline Dimmitt- Sentinel.
