Today at noon and located at the Logan County Fairgrounds, 215 Fairgrounds Rd, Guthrie, OK, is the Cornhole Tournament benefiting Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen 2020 Rebeka Breger. Every year, Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen gets to choose their fundraising event and Breger chose the Cornhole Tournament because it’s a family-friendly event that allows people of all ages to participate.

“Every year, when someone wins the title of Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen, they get to have one fundraiser,” Breger said. “There has to be a silent and live auction but you can basically do anything you want, like it could be barrel racing. I thought [a cornhole tournament] was a fun and different idea and talked to my mom about it. She had a friend tell her about Cimarron Valley Cornholers and they supply and set up everything. It’s going to be a blast and I’m really excited.”

The cost of team entry is $60 and includes dinner but for those who would like to attend without playing in the tournament, it is $15 and also includes dinner. The meal is a fish fry, with the catfish donated from a family member’s land, and the rest is courtesy of Sam’s Southern Eatery. The top three teams will win cash prizes and the event will also have a live and silent auction. The live auction prizes include, but are not limited to, a guided duck hunt and a guided fishing trip. The silent auction prizes include gift certificates to a lot of local businesses such as Simone’s Cafe, Mark’s Drug and Missy’s.

“This is basically a family-friendly event for anyone to come out to and it’s not just limited to the rodeo queen community, it’s for anyone that wants to come. It’s going to be a great time with the live and silent auctions and it’s a good way to make some extra cash,” Breger said.

Breger won the title of Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen 2020 in June of last year and her duties began Jan. 1. She is currently a senior at Piedmont High School and plans to continue her education after graduation pursuing a degree in veterinary science. The tournament serves as a way for Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen to raise money that goes towards supporting them throughout their title year.

“The money goes towards supporting me throughout my year because as Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen, I’m going to travel to a lot of PRCA rodeos across Oklahoma as well as Florida. I’m going to hopefully go to Las Vegas with Miss Rodeo Oklahoma, Kylie Myers, to watch her compete in Miss Rodeo America at the National Rodeo Finals.”

Breger said her main goal as Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen is to get other teenagers engaged in the sport of rodeo and to inspire anybody to try it out because after competing for and winning her first title as 2019 ‘89er Celebration Queen, she ran for five other titles and lost, before winning Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen 2020.

“When I started two years ago, I didn’t know anything about it and I want to inspire the other girls to learn about it. After I lost five competitions in a row, I went to state and I didn’t think I was going to win because it was a hard competition and the other girls brought their best but I gave it my all and ended up winning. I don’t want other girls to get discouraged and give up.
