Public Safety Women from Around Oklahoma to Gather

On February 28, 2024, female first responders and other local, state and federal public safety professional women from across Oklahoma will gather for a symposium in south Oklahoma City. It is believed this is the first such statewide gathering in the history of the state.

GPS Teacher of the Year announced

Charter Oak Elementary Interventionist Jo Ewy on Monday was named the 2023-2024 District Teacher of the Year for Guthrie Public Schools. She was recognized during Guthrie Board of Education’s February meeting.

Guthrie Rotary Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Jet Robbins. He is the son of Zach and Erin Robbins. Jet is very involved in the band and jazz band. He has been a drum major for 2 years. Jet is a 4-time NCDA High School band participant, is a 3-time Superior soloist at OSSAA State and has been chosen for the 2024 All-State Wind Symphony. After graduation, Jet plans to attend Oklahoma City University studying music and pre-law. Guthrie Chamber Holds Annual Banquet

Last week, the Guthrie Chamber held its Annual Chamber Banquet at Meridian Technology Center, South Campus. With over 250 attendees, the Chamber reflected on 2023 and honored the 2023 GPS Teacher of the Year as well as other individuals and businesses.

Guthrie FFA holds Livestock Show

This year Guthrie FFA held the 10th annual Blue-Jay Classic Special Education Livestock Show. There were a little over 20 special education students that showed livestock the night of January 26. Students had the opportunity to show pigs, sheep, and goats. Events like this play a crucial role in promoting inclusivity and providing unique opportunities for special education students to showcase their talents and abilities. Participating in such events not only allows these students to develop valuable skills in animal husbandry but also fosters a sense of belonging and accomplishment.

GHS Musicians earn Honor Band recognitions

Congratulations to the Guthrie High School Band for having 3 outstanding young musicians make both the NCDA All Region and OKMEA All State Honor Bands this year! This is quite an accomplishment for all young musicians to be able to claim that they are now All-State material and among the best in the State of Oklahoma!
