Guthrie Celebrates Vietnam Veterans Day

The Guthrie Sooner Post 4578 of Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a celebration dinner in honor of Vietnam Veterans Day this Friday, March 29th starting at 6:30pm. It will be held at the VFW Post building at 5223 S. Division. The menu for the dinner will feature ribs, side dishes, desserts, and drinks. Admission will be $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Vietnam vets will eat for free, in recognition of their service.

Guthrie AJROTC defeats Clinton AJROTC

Guthrie AJROTC defeated Clinton AJROTC 839.3 to 704.9 in the 2024 National Air Rifle New Shooter League. Guthrie AJROTC was led by Alycea Reese who shot a 215.0. The remaining contributing members were Garrett Looney, Mason Triplett, and Tyler Lawson. They are from Guthrie, OK, and are coached by Kyle Brede.

NABC First Responders Emergency Extrication (F.R.E.E.) program event to be held

Tim’s Body Worx and Meridian Technology Center South Campus, in collaboration with the National Auto Body Council (NABC), is excited to announce the hosting of the NABC First Responders Emergency Extrication (F.R.E.E.) program in Guthrie. This unique training opportunity aims to enhance the skills of firefighters and first responders in safely extricating individuals from modern vehicles, which are equipped with advanced safety features like high strength steels, complex electronics, and multiple airbag systems.

Oklahoma artists showcased in new Guthrie exhibit

“Oklahoma Visionaries” is the latest exhibit at the Owens Art Place Museum, displaying creative works from self-taught artists throughout the state and nearby. During an 11-month search, curators Pam Hodges, Steve Liggett and Wallace Owens contacted art organizations, galleries and collectors in 29 Oklahoma cities and in four states.
