A Kansas man awaits formal charges after being accused of several crimes including shooting with intent to kill. Law enforcement officials identify the man at Detron James.

The City of Guthrie hosted a public forum this past Wednesday to go over the details of the upcoming vote on extending the Logan County Capital Improvement Project sales tax for an additional 15 years, to support the City’s much-needed upgrades in several key areas of infrastructure. The vote to extend the tax will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd.

The Logan County Board of Commissioners Friday learned that the county should be able to close next week on the purchase agreement for the Department of Human Services (DHS) building 1414 South Division Street.

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Rain Porter. She is the daughter of Chiara Porter. Rain is in choir, Student Council, Girls Soccer Manager, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and is a Valedictorian for 2024. She received an excellent rating at All-State in solo and ensemble. Bobby Stitt, administrator for three Mercy hospitals in Oklahoma, was recently named to Becker’s Hospital Review 2024 Rural CEOs to Know list. He is one of only two rural CEOs in the state of Oklahoma and the only rural hospital administrator at Mercy to make this list.

The deadline to request absentee ballots by mail is approaching. Applications must be received by the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m.

The Guthrie City Council Tuesday approved an automatic mutual aid agreement between the City of Guthrie and the City of Crescent to provide mutual aid assistance during emergencies. This agreement will set a standard operating practice of both fire departments being dispatched to emergency scenes within the defined boundaries outlined in the agreement.
