The annual Guthrie FFA Bluejay Classic was held on Friday at the Logan County Fairgrounds. The event, sponsored by Logan County Farm Bureau, pairs up FFA students with Bluejay special needs students to show goats, pigs and sheep. The Bluejay Classic drew a large crowd including Sen. Chuck Hall and Rep. Garry Mize.

While speaking to those in attendance, Sen. Hall said that out of all the four counties he covers, Pawnee, Noble, Kingfisher and Logan, this was one of the most tremendous events he’s ever experienced and that you could tell these youth are talented and know what they’re doing. Sen. Hall also spoke about how much FFA means to him, having come up through the program, and the values that FFA instills in people.

“FFA means a lot to me; I grew up in FFA. I’ve gotta tell you, as I look across the room, we are teaching responsibility,” Hall said. “These young people are learning what it means to be a responsible citizen and some of the best individuals in our state come up through this kind of program. I just want to thank all of you this evening. All of you have done a terrific job and we’re looking forward to great things to come from each and every one of you.”

As far as their votes, both Hall and Mize agreed they were all winners.
