The Mulhall-Orlando FFA Chapter held a toy drive from December 1 through 10th to collect toys that will go to the Logan County DHS. The Department of Human Services (DHS) is the largest state agency in Oklahoma.
Providing a wide range of assistance programs to help Oklahomans in need. Over the span of just 10 days the FFA chapter along with the help of friends and family in the community were able to collect a total of 151 toys. Donation boxes were placed at the M-O Elementary and High School buildings for students and community members to drop off toys.
The toys collected will be used as gifts for foster children at the Logan County DHS Christmas party. Any remaining toys will be used throughout the year for birthdays, in the visitation room, or be given to children who come into the office and are waiting on a new foster family. This community service project was proposed by FFA member Paige Day who wanted to find a way to give to children in need at Christmas.
“I feel that every child deserves a gift at Christmas and knowing that we can help make that a reality and brighten a child’s day just makes me happy. FFA teaches us to serve others, and this is just one way we can do that.” said Paige Day.
The National FFA Organization embraces the idea of giving back to our communities. The last line of the FFA motto, “Living to Serve,” shows the important role service plays in our organization.
The M-O FFA Chapter is happy to have this opportunity to serve others and bring joy to children during this holiday season.
