For the second straight year, there will be no Guthrie little league baseball season. The board of directors for Guthrie Little League announced in an email Sunday night that it was decided to cancel the upcoming 2020 GBA baseball/T-ball season.
“It is with great regret that we, the GBA Board of Directors, have decided to cancel the 2020 GBA baseball/T-ball season. This is a decision we did not make without much thought and discussion. We realize that this may come as a disappointment to a lot of you and with relief to some. We are very concerned about the COVID-19 situation, and above all, we do not want to endanger our players and their families.”
The decision to cancel the season was made after a survey was emailed to parents who had previously registered online. According to officials, only 50% of those who responded indicated they would allow their child or children to play in the upcoming season.
“Based on the numbers, we simply would not have enough participating players to make more than 1-2 teams per division. We felt this would not be enjoyable for the players and was not worth the perceived risk.
Guthrie Little League baseball will be issuing refunds for those that registered and paid. If you paid online, you will receive credit back to your credit card from the SIPlay site. If you paid by cash, you will receive a cash/check refund.
“Refunds will be a huge process and each registered player has to be refunded in the system individually, so please be patient.”
If you have questions about the refund process, please direct them to email@example.com.
