The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival has been cancelled for 2020. Tom Webb notified the Guthrie News Leader on Tuesday afternoon that the board met and with regret unanimously voted to cancel this year’s event.

“There were several factors including the health and safety of the attendees. We had to be able to assure attendees that it would be safe to pull the event off without inordinate danger to the visitors,” said Webb.

Webb also indicating getting insurance to cover the event was becoming an issue because of the pandemic.

The OIBF was already looking at a slimmed down version of entertainers as the international groups were not going to be allowed in the country. The merchandising area and food court had also been eliminated for health and safety concerns of the attendees.

The event was scheduled for Oct.1-3.
