The Guthrie Cross Country teams travelled to Sand Springs Saturday for the Class 5A eastern regional. The boys finished in fourth place in a loaded field that had Tahlequah, Bishop Kelly and Sapulpa finish ahead of them in the team race. The top seven teams advance. The Bluejays had runners finish 4-22-24-30-35 with senior Mason Barney leading the way.
The Lady Bluejays finished in sixth place as Bishop Kelly, Sapulpa, and Coweta slugged it out for the team title with 52-56-63 points respectively. The Guthrie girls scored 186 points with finishers at 25-32-38-44-47. Freshman Kamryn Boller was the top finisher for Guthrie in a field of 104 entries.
The state championships are next Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe with the Class 5A races at 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
