Tigers Maul the Ruf-Nex 46-8

It took the Crescent Tigers almost 43 minutes to score their only touchdown in their Week Zero opener against Mooreland.

It took them only five minutes to score Friday night against Crooked Oak, and by the time the teams reached halftime, it was 46-0 in favor of the Tigers, who pocketed a 46-8 win against the Ruf-Nex.

The game gets a little tougher this week with Morrison coming to town for Homecoming at 7 p.m. Friday. Although Morrison lost its season opener 43-0 to Tulsa NOAH, it was a Class A state semifinalist last year, losing to Ringling 13-12.

Tanner Rice started the scoring on a 27-yard touchdown run with 7:10 left in the first quarter. Three minutes later, CJ Wilson returned a Crooked Oak punt 28 yards for a touchdown, before Kade Varner and Rice hooked up on a scoring pass just 30 seconds later to make it 19-0. Before the quarter ended, Tyler Neugent scored from 4 yards out to make it 27-0 and the rout was on.

Crooked Oak scored with five minutes to go in the third quarter to break the shutout.

Varner was a very effective 4-for-6 for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

The Tigers ran the ball 33 times, between seven players, for 229 yards. Wilson led the way with 65 yards on six carries; Neugent ran four times for 43 yards; Eli Portwood carried 10 times for 37 yards; and Luke Descher had 35 yards on seven carries.
