For the fourth time in school history, the Missouri State Lady Bears are heading to the Sweet 16. The Lady Bears upset third-seed, and 13th-ranked Iowa State with a 69-60 win Monday evening, to send the Lady Bears to the next round.
The 11th-seeded Lady Bears (25-9) are the lowest seed remaining in the tournament and will take on second-seeded Stanford (30-4) on Saturday, March 30 at 5:30 p.m in Chicago on ESPN2.
The Lady Bears held off a late Cyclone surge in the fourth quarter, as Iowa State pulled within a point three different times. With the Lady Bears leading 57-54 with 3:43 to go, the ball swung around the key and found former Cashion standout, freshman Syndey Manning, who buried a 3-pointer to push their lead to six.
Manning finished with with seven points, going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line that helped seal the game late.
The Lady Bears will look to extend its school record road win streak to 11 games this Saturday, as well as lock up an Elite Eight appearance.
