The Crescent High School softball team picked up a big district win last night in Watonga, as the Lady Tigers moved into second place in the district standings, tied with Fairview High School with only two district games remaining.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with Kinidi Taylor and Tristen Heiden coming around to score. Crescent added two more runs in the top of the third thanks to a RBI triple to center by Julian Costellow and an RBI by Heiden. After adding a run in the top of the fourth, Crescent broke the game open in the fifth.

Costellow led the inning off with a single followed by a double by Heiden. Both would come around to score thanks to some savvy base running to push Crescent’s lead to 7-0. Meghan Wilson picked up her lone RBI of the game, driving in Kaylie Counts to give the Lady Tigers a commanding 8-0 lead.

Watonga would add five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but it would not be enough, as Crescent would cruise to a 9-5 victory over the Lady Eagles. Costellow and Counts led the way offensively for Crescent, combining to go 6-for-10 with three RBIs. Chloee DeFuentes picked up the win in the circle, throwing all seven innings for the Lady Tigers.

Crescent will now look to pick up another key win tonight when they travel to Hinton 17-12 (6-6). The Lady Tigers beat Hinton 6-4 back on Aug. 19th. A win tonight would set the stage for a big showdown with top-seeded Dale Thursday night at home.

Standings

Depending on how the this week shakes out for Crescent and Fairview, the Lady Tigers will likely travel to top-seeded 5A-2 Hobart or top-seeded 5A-3 Amber-Pocasset for regionals.
