Guthrie High softball team goes 3-0 as district season winds down

Guthrie High’s softball team went 3-0 last week in non-district games, tuning up for key district games that will decide which teams host the playoffs.

The Lady Bluejays were scheduled to play Noble and Piedmont this week.

Guthrie’s first game last week resulted in a 13-5 rout of the Oklahoma City Broncos Home School team. Abbie and Ashlee Eichler led the offense with three hits apiece in a 15-hit attack. Mckenna Tucker had two doubles and was the winning pitcher.

In the Guthrie Festival, the Lady Bluejays defeated Bethany 9-1 in a game called after five innings. Tucker again was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits, and also delivered another pair of two hits. Abbie Eichler also had two hits as the Bluejays scored six runs in the third and three in the fourth.

Abbie Eichler was the hitting hero in a victory against Edmond North with five runs batted in on a double and a home run. Kinley Duehning got the win in the circle, striking out seven and allowing four hits. Duehning also had two hits, including a double.

Guthrie travels to the Chickasha Festival on Saturday before returning for games against the OKC Broncos and Putnam City next week.
