The Guthrie High School Lady Bluejays slow pitch softball team hosted their second annual festival on April 14-15 and went 2-2 in the festival. The Lady Bluejays then traveled to Crescent on April 18 and lost a heartbreaker to the Lady Tigers 17-16 in nine innings The Lady Bluejays is now 12-7 on the season.

Guthrie actually started the week with a visit to the Norman Tigers on April 12 and scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull out a 13-10 win. The Lady Bluejays would have 14 hits in the game. Ryann Waters led the way with four hits, including two doubles. McKenna Tucker, Ashlee Eichler, Elaina Clark, and Kassie Hall all had two hits in the game. Katelynn Siess was the winning pitcher.

On April 15, the Lady Bluejays started out strong scoring ten runs in the seventh inning to break a n 8-8 tie and go on to win the game 18-9. Guthrie had 23 hits in the game. Ashlee Eichler had three hits, Abby Eichler had four hits, Tucker had two hits, Waters and Siess each had three hits, and Kaitlyn Turman, Hall, and Jules Leach all chipped in with two hits. The wind was blowing out as Turman and Hall each had a home run and Abbie Eichler had two home runs in the game.

The Lady Bluejays would then run-rule Norman North 13-3 in five innings on Friday morning as Leach had three hits and four runs batted in. Abbie Eichler hit another home run in the game and Turman also chipped in with three hits. The Lady Bluejays sealed the deal with nine runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.

The final two games of the festival are games the Lady Bluejays would just as soon forget about as they lost to Norman 6-1 and to Hinton in the finale 12-1. The Norman game was ugly as Guthrie committed four errors and only had four hits in the loss. The Hinton game was called after four innings when Hinton scored eight times to take a 12-0 lead. As with the Norman game, the Lady Bluejays had four hits and four errors in the game.

The Lady Bluejays had a 16-11 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Lady Tigers rallied to tie the score and then got a run across in the ninth inning to win the game. The wind was blowing out and probably contributed to the 38 hits and 14 errors in the game between the two teams. Guthrie got a home run from Kassie Hall and Crescent’s Micah Lovett hit two out of the park. Kaylie Counts also hit one for the Lady Tigers. The team traveled to Norman North last night for a make-up game from a rainout. Hall would have four hits and six runs batted in to lead the Lady Bluejays. Ryann Waters had two doubles in a three hit night with three runs batted in.
