As we enter week four of the high school football season, games will mean a little bit more now as district games begin for all Logan County teams. Here’s a look at Crescent vs Watonga.
(2-2) Crescent vs (2-1) Watonga
At A Glance:
Crescent enters this game looking to bounce back into the win column. Sitting at 2-2 on the year, the Tigers have struggled with finding consistency. A week after beating Oklahoma Christian Academy 56-22, Crescent only managed to score six points last week. Watonga enters this game fresh off a 19-18 loss to Crossings Christian. They previously beat Cordell 45-16, and Alva 22-16.
Crescent wins if…
The Crescent Tigers can pick up a big district win here if they can get off to a fast start. In their win against Oklahoma Christian, the Tigers put up 34 points in the first half. The Tigers rushed for 460 yards in that game, with Dominic Descher doing most of the work with 34 carries for 264 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. If the Tigers can get the run game going early and get off to a fast start, they’ll have a chance to stay alive in the District A-3 race.
Watonga wins if…
Watonga has seen its offensive production drop week after week this season. After scoring 45 points in the season opener, the Eagles scored 22 points against Alva and only 18 against Crossings. The Eagles have a talented quarterback in Michael Reza who rushed for over 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. If he can get going and open up some passing lanes, the Eagles could pick up the win.
Both teams enter this one highly motivated to shake off last week’s results. Crescent’s offense finds its footing again and comes away with a big road victory.
