Jesus Christ is, “…the way and the truth and the life…”. (John 14:6). “In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.” (John 1:4). Jesus WAS the physical, and IS the Spiritual manifestation of LIFE, itself. All life forms must feed on other forms of life to survive. It is a “circle of life thing”. A lion hunts its prey to survive. And no matter where an animal finds itself in the “food chain”, it must feed on other life forms…whether living flesh, or living plant. By the way…human beings ARE NOT ANIMALS! As we learn in the very first chapter of the Bible, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in Our image, in Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’” (Genesis 1:26). God put mankind “in charge”, TO RULE OVER ALL ANIMALS. Hmmmmm, there IS a difference between “mankind” and “animals” after all, huh? Oh, and one other note of interest…in this same Bible verse, God said, “Let us make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness.” Who is “OUR”? It is the other members of the Holy Trinity. God the Father was speaking to His Son (Jesus), AND the Holy Spirit. This is a conversation proving that God is three “persons” of the same Spirit…the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Our eternal, spiritual life is the reason Jesus Christ…our SOURCE of life…came to this earth to share the light…the truth…of His life with us. Consider John 5:26, which says, “For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself.” The Father shared the gift of life with His Son, and this Son…Jesus Christ…has come down to this dark world to share the gift…and the light…of His life, with all of us…if we would only accept this gift. But first, we must understand the gift. This is the reason Jesus said to the woman at the well, “If you knew the gift of God and Who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” (John 4:10). This is the living water that becomes a spring of water within a man or woman, “welling up to eternal life”. (John 4:14). Jesus desires to give ALL humans life…eternal, spiritual life.

The Gospel of John was written by the Apostle John with a primary goal in mind…to let the reader know and understand that Jesus Christ IS LIFE! John stated this about his Gospel words, “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” (John 20:31). John wrote his Gospel with the hope that we would BELIEVE in Jesus, and be saved by, and through, this belief. We place our Faith in Christ, as Lord and Savior. A “savior” is one who rescues and restores. Jesus Christ is BOTH, our Savior…and God!

As I stated earlier, life must feed on other sources of “life”, to “live”. Humans cannot just eat rocks and live. Rocks have no source of life within them. Rocks are “physically dead”. If we “feed on death”, we “become death” (dead). If we “feed on life”, we “become life” (live). Only ONE TRUE source of life exists, and that is Jehovah God. And God, when He caused vegetation to grow upon the earth, placed life even within the edible plants, for consumption. Whether humans eat only plants, or whether they eat meat, they are eating a source of life supplied by God, alone. And since Jesus Christ IS the ONLY source of eternal, Spiritual life, we are told by Christ to feed on His body and blood, to obtain His eternal life for ourselves. (John 6:47-59). Jesus IS the “Bread of Life”. (John 6:35; 6:48; 6:50,51). And since we know and understand that “only life sustains life”, would we not be wise to not only eat of this bread of life, but to “earnestly FEAST upon it”, EVERY DAY of our lives?
