This family friendly living history program will be presented by Mike Sheriff, an avid historian, an OHS docent, and presenter of multiple living history characters to thousands of children and adults across Oklahoma.
The program will have two parts. The beginning presentation will be in first person, as a Virginia Regimental Soldier in 1783, talking about the War for Independence. He will talk about the actions and events leading up to the war; as well as discussion of some of the battles, the soldiers’ lives, the division among people, and how troops were raised and fought.
The second part of the presentation will be discussion of some myths about the Revolutionary War; some little-known facts about how ugly the War actually was, and will also include adequate time for questions.
Following the presentation, lemonade and light refreshments of the period, prepared from Colonial Williamsburg recipes, will be served.
Advance registrations recommended to ensure seating.
