Nikolaus Albert Labus

Nikolaus Albert Labus, also known as Nik, passed away on May 8th, 2023, at the age of 41 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He was born on November 30th, 1981, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Nikolaus was an honest and intelligent man who was meticulous in everything he did. He had a goofy side to him that made him even more endearing to those around him. Nikolaus was a fierce protector of those he loved. His family and friends meant everything to him. He was the type of person that every man strives to be like, being around him brought peace and comfort.

Nik began his career in HVAC in 1999 and eventually started his own successful company, which he ran with his business partner/ best friend/ work husband for ten years. Recently, he began a new journey with United Mechanical, where he continued to excel in his field.

He was the go-to man if anyone couldn’t figure out how or why something wouldn’t work. If he couldn’t figure out the problem, right away he would put in the work and research it took to figure it out and get the problem fixed. Nik was always busy figuring out how to better do his jobs by inventing a tool or method to make his efforts easier. He took pride in the work he put out and wanted everything he worked on to not only look nice, but function properly.

When he wasn’t working, Nikolaus enjoyed refinishing his greatgrandparent’s farmhouse and building things with his wife, Melanie Labus. He also loved spending time with his daughter, Eveah Labus, and his stepsons, Ashton Morgan, Chade Morgan, Brecken McClain, and Drayden McClain. Nikolaus had a soft spot for animals and could often be found cuddling with a puppy or a goat.

Nik is preceded in death by his grandfather Gerald (Soc) Nelson, his uncle Gerald Nelson Jr., his mother Pamela Nelson, his father Rudolph (Rudy) Labus, his brother Chris Coleman, and many other grandparents. He is survived by his wife Melanie Labus, his daughter Eveah Labus, his stepsons Ashton Morgan, Chade Morgan, Brecken McClain, and Drayden McClain, his grandchildren, Sterling, Harper, and Rayf, and his daughter-in-law, Stormi Morgan. He is also survived by his sisters, Trudy Labus, Kara Shearer, and Tara Clem, uncle Mike Labus, and Grandmother Dorthy DelRio and his dear friend and long-time business partner, Tim Curtis.

Nikolaus will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy as a hardworking loving family man and successful businessman will live on forever.
