Hunter C. Mason was born December 27, 1941 in La Salle, IL, the fifth of seven children. He graduated from Geneseo High School, Geneseo, IL in 1959. He moved to Guthrie in 1965 with his wife and four daughters where he sold shoes at Kennemer’s while attending school at Central State University. In 1974, took on a job that would define his life, enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 2001.

Hunter leaves behind his wife, Jan of thirty five years, two daughters, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three brothers, and one sister.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services are currently pending at this time with Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie.

In lieu of flowers, he requested donations be made to the American Legion Lebron Post, 123 North 1st St., Guthrie, OK 73044 to help defray the costs of sending Honor Guards to our veterans’ funerals.
