Elladean Winn was born in Mulhall, Oklahoma on December 7, 1930 to Ora and Bessie (Dick) Murphy. She passed away at home in Edmond on September 14, 2022.
She enjoyed growing up on the farm and developed a deep love of nature and of animals, particularly birds. She attended the local country school and graduated from Mulhall High School in 1949.
In the early 1950s she worked as a telephone operator in Oklahoma City. She married John Keith Winn on January 31st, 1953, and they made a home together in Guthrie. The couple had two children, Gary John Winn and Linda Sue Winn.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, she was employed in a variety of jobs in Guthrie over the years including the Furniture Factory, KC Manufacturing, Central Casket Company and the Townhouse Motel. She retired in the late 1990s.
She was a private person who loved her family, loved animals, enjoyed watching birds and observing nature, working on puzzles and doing word searches. Over the years she amassed an extensive collection of beautiful ceramic birds of which she was very proud. She enjoyed long rides in the country, spending time with the family pets and sharing laughs with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her brother Wayne W. Murphy and Vera L. Dick and her son Gary, all of Guthrie.
She is survived by her daughter Linda of Edmond, three nieces (Eileen Kephart of Harrison, Arkansas, Delna Elston of Bellevue, Washington and Sharon Jestes of Richardson, Texas), and two nephews (Robert Dunn of Dripping Springs, Texas and Larry Dunn of Moore, Oklahoma).
Graveside services for Elladean were held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 19, 2022 at Summit View Cemetery with Chaplain Martin Gossett officiating. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
