David Wayne Meeks, age 71, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on Apri 21, 2022 in Guthrie. David was born on June 17, 1950, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to James Donald and Lois Mae (Moad) Meeks.
David lived in Guthrie and the Oklahoma City area most of his life. He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1968 and attended college at Oklahoma City Community College. David was a Veteran in the United States Marine Corps serving in Vietnam. He was employed with First Capitol Trolley and retired from J.B. Hunt as a driver safety instructor and was previously a firefighter and EMT in Mustang and Oklahoma City. He enjoyed remodeling homes, mechanics and fast cars. David was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mustang.
Survivors include his two sons, Jarod Meeks of Guthrie and Jason Meeks and partner Anissa of Guthrie, brother Ricky Meeks of Blanchard, sister Sandy Childers and husband Lloyd of Blanchard, and sister Carol Stevens and husband Bill of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his granddaughter Mercedes Kyle’ Meeks, two great granddaughters and the mother of David’s sons Sharon Ashpaugh. David was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27th from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Hayes Funeral Home, 117 E. Noble, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.
