Friday’s 14th Annual Okeene Whippet Relays saw a first-place victory for the Cashion girls’ track and field team, their first of the spring season after multiple runner-up finishes.
The Wildcats finished top-three in nine different events including first place in both the 4x100 and 4x800 relay races, giving them a meet-high 101 total points in the girls’ competition. They finished just five points ahead of second-place Tonkawa, who bested them at the team’s previous meet back on April 4.
Cashion’s 4x100 relay team, consisting of Khloe Kastner, Abby Hobgood, Chevy Eubanks and Reese Hobgood, finished with a top time of 51.06 seconds to earn the Wildcats 20 team points. Reese Hobgood also participated on the team’s 4x800 relay along with Addison McCracken, Sierra McCracken and Kate Nabavi, who won first with a time of 10:30.08 for 20-more points.
The Wildcats’ 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams both won second place along with two runner-up finishes for senior Sierra McCracken in the Girls 400-meter race and 800-meter race. McCracken has stayed consistent in both events this season with a second-place win during her last outing as well.
Khloe Kastner took home second place in the long jump competition, jumping a 16-03.75. The young freshman is already playing a big role for the Wildcats this season with top finishes in both the long jump and high jump, as well as being a member of multiple relay teams.
Rounding out the Wildcats’ day was Chevy Eubanks and Abby Hobgood, who won third place in the 200-meter run and 100-meter dash, respectively.
The Cashion girls have strung together some impressive finishes through the midway point of the 2025 season, and are setting up to be a top contender at the Class 2A state meet on May 9. They’ll run next at the Hennessey Track Meet on Monday, April 14.
