The Guthrie girls’ track and field team showed out at Tuesday’s 2025 OBU Bison Invitational, picking up a first-place win at the 19-school meet.
The Lady Jays earned top three finishes in seven different events in Shawnee to end with 102 total points as a team, outpacing second-place Duncan’s 90 points. Guthrie’s 4x200 relay team kicked off the day with a first-place finals time of 1:46.07, followed by another first place for the 4x400 relay team, who ran a 4:10.22.
Lily Rechlin earned second place in the girls’ high jump event with a runner-up score of 5-02.00, marking the first time this season she hasn’t won first in the event. She was followed up in third place by teammate Harly Chastain, who jumped a 4-08.00 to tie with Perkins-Tryon’s Camryn Marshall.
Guthrie’s 4x100 relay team finished only seven tenths of a second behind first-place Millwood with a final time of 49.78. They also had three girls; Haley Gallo, Taylor Schroder and Cora Leach win third place in the 100-meter run, 3200-meter run and 300-meter hurdles, respectively.
The Lady Jays earn their first top finish of the spring season after two third-place wins in their previous two track meets.
Guthrie’s boys’ team also competed at the event, winning sixth place with top three finishes in five events. Isaiah Blevins took second place in the 3200-meter run and third in the 1600-meter run, and Amari Watson finished as runner-up in the 100-meter dash with a 10.80 time. Cade Barton also won second for the boys’ high jump.
Gavin Hood was the third-highest jumper in the pole vault event, picking up a 13-00.00.
Both Bluejays’ squads will run next on Thursday, April 17, at the 2025 Yukon Classic from Yukon High School.
