Larry Dean Miller

Larry Dean Miller, 88, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Larry was born on January 6, 1936, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Vern E. and Mary Helen (Chappell) Miller. He attended Treadwell High School in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating with the class of 1954. During that time, he also served our country in the Navy Reserves from 1953 – 1954. At 20 years old, Larry started his apprenticeship as a carpenter. He was self-employed for many years as a carpenter, contractor, and in construction.

Larry, along with his wife, Margie, resided in Harrah, Oklahoma, from 1970 – 1995 and later moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma, where he resided from 1995 until January of 2024. Margie preceded Larry in death in 2007.

Together with Margie, Larry volunteered at Logan County Hospital for several years, working in the canteen and gift shop. They were members of Community Church in Guthrie. Larry was a proud 60 + year Mason having membership in both the Britton Masonic Lodge #434 and Guthrie Masonic Lodge #35. He was also a member of Shriners International.

In his later years, Larry enjoyed attending “singings” and potlucks in small towns around the area. In January of 2024, Larry joined the Homestead Assisted Living community in Bethany, Oklahoma, where he resided until his passing.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Helen Miller; his wife of 35 years, Marjorie O. “Margie” Miller; his brothers, Clyde and Dan Miller; his sisters, Verna Gravitt, and Ruth Juncker; his son, Robert “Bob” Clayton Miller; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his cousins, nieces, and nephews; his son, Scott A. Miller and wife, Cindi; his daughter, Tammy L. Williams and husband, Mike; 31 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Larry will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Community Church, Guthrie, Ok. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Larry’s name. Condolences can be expressed at www.asasmith. net.
