More than 1,100 runners made the second annual Clay Tarter Invitational a huge success this past weekend at Guthrie’s Cottonwood Flats.
Guthrie junior Isaiah Blevins ran his best race of the year, finishing second in the high school varsity division Saturday with a time of 16:01.96 over the 3.2-kilometer course. Edmond North’s Will Mourning won the race in 15:57.73.
Guthrie’s Taylor Schroder placed eighth in the girls division with a time of 20:25.38 as the Lady Bluejays placed second as a team. Edmond North’s Emma Johnson won in 18:19.23 over the same distance.
The Bluejays finished fifth as a team with 119 points as Edmond North went 1-3-4-910 to claim the title with 27 points.
Guthrie’s Kallon Cyphers also was a medalist with a 12th-place finish in 17:08.71. Isaac Talley and Easton Smedley were 34th and 39th with respective times of 17:58.00 and 18:13.81. Josiah Dement closed the scoring in 41st place with a time of 18:18.03 in a field of 87 varsity runners.
Riley Wilkerson (18:35.81) and Brooks Terry (18:43.15) were the sixth and seventh runners for the varsity. Sophomore Wyatt Watson (18:50.79), junior Corbin Madison (19:42.42) and freshman Cayden Haynes (23:49.62) rounded out the 10 runners the Bluejays could enter.
Cashion entered senior Luke Bausert (17:20.53), who medaled in 16th place and sophomore Cole Bausert (18:39.07), who finished 49th.

Cook (22:01.23), Eli Pross (22:03.01) and Tyree Lancaster (22:15.26) -- who raced together and crossed the finish line together in a first-time effort.
In the other classes: Girls varsity: The Guthrie Lady Bluejays finished second in the varsity race with 99 points. Edmond North placed 1-2-4-5-6 to finish with 18 points and claim the team title.
Joining Schroder as medalists for Guthrie were Raley Hooper (21:36.65) and Pe y ton Read (22:29.00), who finished 17th and 23rd. Jaydin Alexander (22:40.24) and Addie Poupard (22:57.98) would wrap up the scoring with finishes of 29th and 32nd in a field of 79 runners.
Avelyn Sallee (23:06.16) and Ri l ey Pi e r sol (23:47.23) rounded out the top seven runners for the Lady Bluejays. Freshmen Lana Richardson (24:05.12) and Avery Foshee (29:09.77) also competed.
JV boys and girls: There were 118 runners in the field and six were girls. Guthrie did not enter runners in either race.
Also, the Guthrie Fun run Saturday morning had 39 runners in the race from the community.
Junior high girls: On Friday, Guthrie finished in second place with 106 points. Piedmont won the team title with 35. Morgan McNutt of Bethany won the race in 9:14.94.
Guthrie’s top finisher was Ruby Richardson, ninth in 10:19.48. Kylee Canary also medaled in 17th place in 10:39.85 over the 1.5-mile course. Reece Piersol (10:50.79), Helen Wi ckersham (11:04.67) and Blaire Terry (11:16.30) rounded out the scoring, placing 20th, 29th and 31st. Brynlee Countess (11:19.69) and Lana Vaughan (11:34.82) placed 35th and 48th.
Junior high boys: Guthrie placed fifth with 125 points, while Oakdale won with 62.
Aiden Foster (9:01.46), Izaiah Galloway (9:14.49) and Preston Williams all medaled for Guthrie, finishing 2-5-25, respectively. Tad Talley (9:57.55) and Eli Gann (11:16.33) rounded out the scoring in 29th and 64th place. There were 94 runners in the field. Seventh graders Hudson Swain (69th) and Hudson Green (70th) also competed.
Seventh grade: Arianna Anderson (13:59.49) and Addyson Martin (14:23.68) were the lone Guthrie entries in a field of 186 girls, finishing 108th and 115th.
In the boys race, Guthrie finished 15th as a team with 414 points. Edmond Cimarron won the team title with 66. Cruz Tontz (11:08.20) was the best Guthrie finisher in 44th place. Landon Morava (13:03.19), Levi Potter (13:43.90), Ashton Havener (14:32.32), Ethan Cotton (15:43.20) and Emmett Hardin (17:26.17) made up the rest of the team. There were 178 runners.
Eighth grade: Lacie Canary (11:43.57), Bailey Hardin (11:44.50) and Leona Warner (11:54.34) all medaled for Guthrie, finishing 12-14-16. Kelee Slawson (17:35.95) finished 111th in a field of 123 runners. Paeyton Price of Ponca City won the race in 9:26.86.
In the boys race, Guthrie’s Maddox McFarlane (11:52.03), Steven Field (12:07.52). Aden Foshee (12:20.40) and Camden Womack (12:21.39) finished 69-86-97-98 in a field of 173 boys. Ricky Watson of Enid Waller Middle School was the individual champion in 9:20.82 over the 1.5-mile course.
5th and 6th grade (new): Guthrie boys won their division with 34 points. Loki McLemore (6:36.62), Wrigley Dowell (6:55.40), Mason Canary (7:04.79), Luke Gill (7:28.17) and Gage Ambriz (7:39.63) finished 4-5-6-9-10 to claim the title in a field of 38 boys. Jaxon Canary and Jace Gill placed 18th and 24th to wrap up the Guthrie runners.
On the girls side, there were only three team entries with 58 girls. Guthrie finished third with 55 points as Carl Albert won the team title with 29 points. Aspen Cherry finished second overall but first in scoring with a time of 7:12.69. Hazel Rumsey (7:44.78), Sophia Welch (9:16.18), Zoe Hester (9:23.61), Oakley Cherry (9:25.83), Dylan Woodward (10:43.30) and Indie Pickard (11:04.28) all medaled ,finishing 4-15-17-18-20-21. Isabella Flores (1:48.78) and Joselyn Flores (12:53) finished 51st and 57th to wrap up Guthrie’s runners.
The event had great attendance from the community and parents, as well as assistance from the Woodcrest, Meridian and Guthrie fire departments. What will Year 3 bring? Stay tuned.
