Guthrie High’s football team, which posted a 9-3 record, landed 11 players on the Class 5A-2 All-District squad.
Top honors went to Co-Defensive Player of the Year Landon Hirzel; Special Teams Player of the Year Jaylen Chelf; and Ironman of the Year Jackson Walters.
Running back Isaiah Hammons, Hback Carson Wilder, wide receiver Tyrin Eaton, offensive lineman Justin Berryhill, and defensive backs Brayden Chaney and Zach Henry were named to the First Team.
Receiver Willy Clymer was selected to the Second Team and linebacker Josh Dement was an honorable mention.
Hirzel recorded 61 solo tackles,73 assisted tackles, four sacks, eight tackles for loss, two batted balls and 23 quarterback hurries.
Chelf was the primary punt and kick returner for the Bluejays and also contributed to the offense with 200 rushing yards, 308 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
Walters was on the field for all three phases of the game, compiling 70 rushing yards, 48 tackles, 59 assisted tackles, three sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 14 quarterback hurries. He also was a key on special teams and has had multiple punt blocks in his Guthrie career.
Hammons, who missed several games due to injury, still had 727 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns. Wilder had 59 yards rushing, 274 yards in pass receptions and scored twice in his senior year. Eaton had 386 receiving yards and scored five touchdowns.
Henry had 48 solo tackles and 43 assisted tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, three fumbles caused, and three fumbles recovered.
Chaney had 42 tackles and another 31 assisted tackles to go with four tackles for loss. He also had two interceptions and eight batted balls.
Berryhill was the lone senior on a very inexperienced line at the beginning of the year but most of them return in 2023.
The Bluejays also will return several key players, such as Hayden Calvert, Jaylen Harper, Eli Moroney, Nate Benford, Josh Varnell, Kyran Axtell, Dae’Lontae Glover, Nico Pena and Cooper Walters.
